Cadishead Pump Track

We were commissioned to design and build a floodlit pump track and adjacent learn to ride area to cater for all abilities. We also delivered a secure bike store, bike racks, and a hub seating area, creating a community cycling space. As part of the wider improvement works, we collaborated with a specialist paint sub-contractor to refurbish the existing MUGA to provide a cohesive and visually attractive space.

The site boundary was relatively constrained, bordered by existing football pitches and the MUGA. These required appropriate safety buffers, which initially limited the available footprint for the pump track. However, these constraints ultimately encouraged a creative design approach, resulting in efficient use of space. The final design maximises the site area by incorporating a long jump rhythm straight with a split line, while the berms weave into the pockets of available space to create dynamic cornering features. This layout provides a fun and varied riding experience within a compact footprint.

The 150m pump track includes a 30m split line, offering riders a choice of routes and enabling progression as their skills develop.

Drainage was carefully designed to connect into the existing surface water system within the park. We partnered with RM Services to design and install floodlighting, ensuring year-round use. The lighting specification and bulb temperature were selected to be bat-friendly, in line with recommendations from the client’s ecological survey. The result is a thoughtfully designed, multi-use facility that fits seamlessly within its surroundings.

Despite the initial site constraints, the project delivers a highly functional and visually engaging facility that supports both skill development and community activity.
