Forest of Dean
We were contracted by Forestry England to carry out maintenance works and sections of rebuild at the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre. This is known as one of the busiest trail centres in the UK meaning clear and concise signage and diversions were paramount to ensure visitors safety. We were commissioned to rebuild; the bottom section of GBU and Endo, Mr Rooty, Launchpad and Verderers Skills Area.
Sections of the popular GBU trail were suffering from water damage and dangerous to riders who weren’t familiar with the trail. We transformed it into a progressive jump trail using borrow pit and bench cut methods. Endo was a technical trail which had become rarely ridden due to being very old and rundown. We replaced the old worn out tabletops with some big back to back berms. We added a skills area into the Verderers trail, with a re built line of tabletop jumps and a dual-line of drops giving riders higher or lower choice.
The centre receives a large number of riders of all abilities meaning the trail was suffering from heavy braking in certain sections. We realigned the trail where necessary and imported type 1 aggregate for a fresh surface dressing.
